I'm ready for Brazil

Here I am, sitting in my friend’s apartment counting down the days until I am on a plane destined for Fortaleza, Brazil. As I reflect on the events of this past hectic month, I’ve realized that it is probably one of my best months in a while. From finding out I secured an internship to having a family reunion for my graduation. I am truly blessed to see all the people who have supported me to reach this point in my life.

In less than 3 days I will be in Brazil...Brazil :D. Anyone who knows me well knows I have had an intense obsession with going to Brazil since grade 11, possibly even earlier. I started taking free Portuguese lessons from the Humanitarian Organization of Latin American Students (HOLAS) and listening to Portuguese podcasts in my car. I’m sure some of my friends thought I had gone mad, but that did not stop my determination. So you can imagine my surprise and excitement when I found out that I will be spending the next few months working in Brazil.

So, what does this mean?
Simply put, it means that I get to gain experience in my field of study in a country that I have loved from afar.  Through Niagara College’s Young Professionals Going Global Program (YPGGP) and CIDA’s International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), I am getting this wonderful opportunity to work for the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Ceará (IFCE). My fellow intern, Amber, and I will be mainly working on the IFCE’s Mulheres Mil project.
So here I go. I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for me...
